*Each program is individually tailored to suit a student’s need. The number of sessions will vary according to the needs and goals of the student and the recommendations of the tutor.

For SAT or ACT preparation, we recommend between fifteen and twenty two-hour sessions plus five practice exams. For typical students, this three to five month program (tailored to the individual student’s strengths and weaknesses) is ideal for complete integration of all material covered.

COLLEGE APPLICATIONS AND ESSAYS

Students typically apply to between eight and twelve colleges and universities, most requiring between two and five essays and personal statements. In addition to helping students find their own voices and stories to share, our essay experts work with students to organize their applications and make the workload more manageable.

EDUCATIONAL CONSULTING

The Scholar Group offers personal academic support for a variety of needs. We have extensive experience working with students dealing with the challenges of mild learning disabilities, test anxiety, self-confidence issues, and ADD/ADHD. Our holistic approach focuses on both immediate academic needs and underlying long-term challenges. Our services include ADD/ADHD coaching, academic consulting, and educational advocacy to help families communicate with schools to make sure all parties are working in concert to address the unique needs of the student.

HOMESCHOOL SUPERVISION

We have coordinated and supervised accredited homeschool programs to meet the needs of students in a variety of situations: professional students (actors and athletes), students in recovery, children of parents whose relocation disrupts the normal school year, and students who are compelled to withdraw from high school mid-year for disciplinary or academic reasons. Each has a unique set of challenges and priorities. We work with parents, counselors, employers, and coaches to address the often-conflicting needs that result and to make sure that the student has the structure and support necessary to succeed academically, whatever the circumstances.

PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOLS

We work with individual schools and parents’ associations to create programs that provide students and parents with valuable information, while respecting and adhering to the unique philosophies and approaches of each school. We have created and taught comprehensive SAT classes, as well as classes for subject tests in Literature, Mathematics, and History.

We also offer one-day, one-week, and multiple-session series of workshops on such topics as navigating the college admissions process and writing outstanding personal statements.
